Dean Jones & Myers House NC Stickers

American Makeup and FX artist Dean Jones (Blue Velvet, Toolbox Murders, Pirates of the Caribbean, Night of the Living Dead 3D, Day of the Dead & MANY MORE) stopped by for a sneak peak of The Myers House NC today after wrapping on a film being shot here in North Carolina. Dean and his brother Starr also happen to run a large NC haunt called “The Original Hollywood Horror Show,” which I was fortunate enough to attend this past Halloween. He has over 20 years of experience in the film industry, so it was great to have him check out the house!

Also today, the first ever Myers House NC stickers arrived today in the mail and they can be yours for the generous price of only $5.00! The stickers read “You Can’t Kill The Boogeyman,” “Trick Or Treat” and “The Hillsborough Spookhouse.” So please support the build and buy some stickers!

Electrical Starts and Much More

This week is starting off great at The Myers House NC – so much was happening today! The crew worked on finishing putting up the siding on Judith’s side of the house, the electricians installed nearly half of the electrical work and the landscaping company came out and went over the final details of putting in our septic system and removing all of our tree stumps, which should happen later this week.

The Myers House also got its first kill today ...my neighbor Kevin is crazy about deer hunting and actually went into the house at 6:30 this morning before anyone was there and shot a buck from my second story bathroom window!! And then he proceeded to show off its head to all of the workers! Lol, he’s crazy! So anyway creeps, stay tuned for more progress throughout the week.

The Gable Ornaments!

SWEET BABY JESUS! The crew put up one of our monstrous gable ornaments today!! I now wasn’t expecting them to install them this early, so I was completely surprised when I pulled up to the spook house today. The gable ornament looks amazing up there in all its glory - it totally makes the outside look of the house. These are my favorite details on the entire house, so it’s awesome to finally see one in place!

Check out the video clip I made today of the house to see the gable ornament a little better and the overall progress of the Myers House NC so far...

Lots Of Changes

It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to make it out to the house because of the time change and being so busy lately, but today Emily and I spent most of the day at the property, and so much has changed. The fall leaves look incredible – everything is so colorful. We have a lot of hickory trees on our land, and they’ve all turned a bright golden color. Since the last time I was at the house, the crew has put up almost all of our window moldings and most of the house siding! The molding looks nearly identical to the molding on the original house, with just a simple wood frame around the windows and doors. And the siding that I picked out for our house turned out great and really resembles the siding on the original house. The siding used on the original Myers House is all wood hand-cut German siding, and for the Myers House NC we used Colonial “HardiePlank” lap siding which has the beauty and traditional look of wood siding, but also provides benefits that wood doesn’t - it requires less maintenance, has more resistance to weather damage, and is very durable. But unfortunately the Colonial siding only comes in one width, which is slightly smaller than the siding on the original house, so our house will have a couple more pieces of siding, but visually works perfect! And Mark, our builder, also put together our monstrous gable ornaments and they are sitting in our kitchen at the moment and almost take up the entire room! They are so huge and heavy that the crew has to re-build part of the roof to support them. So at this point it looks like they’re probably going to be installed at the end of the building process.

So the Hillsborough spook house is really coming together! When I look at the front view of the house at this point in construction, the only noticeable difference I can see from the original house is the width of our front door and the transom window above it. North Carolina building code calls for your front door to be 3 feet wide, which is larger than the original house. But other than that, Michael will never know the difference ;)

Californiaaaaa

I’M HOME! After nearly 24 hours of flying in airplanes and being trapped in airports I made it back from my amazing trip out to California. I had so much fun this Halloween! On October 30th (the day I arrived), I met up with my spooky pal Nicole at LAX and we quickly got our rental car and drove towards South Pasadena! We checked into the Sheraton Hotel where the convention was being held, put down our bags, and headed to the TOTAL SKULL office in LA. We met up with Alicia, who also works for TS, and SMZ herself! We all hung out for awhile and then loaded the merch for the convention into our car while dodging Star Tour Vans. After that, we drove out to the old Myers House back in So Pas! We visited Carol (who works in the house and helped me get the measurements) for a little bit. It was so great to finally meet her – she has helped me out a lot and building the Myers House NC wouldn’t have been possible without her - so THANK YOU again Carol! She also showed me a copy of the “South Pasadena Review” newspaper with my house on the front page! The Myers House NC was also on the front page of the “Pasadena Star News” newspaper on October 31st, and I’ll be sure post the articles on here sometime this week! After that, we walked around a little bit more, and then went back to hotel to mingle with all of the other HALLOWEEN fans.

On HALLOWEEN morning we woke up early and drove out to the California desert (Palmdale & Lancaster) to re-visit The Devil’s Rejects filming location Kahiki Palms, aka Club Ed, as well as Captain Spaulding's Museum of Monsters and Madmen from House of 1000 Corpses! We had complete access to the locations and were able to get some amazing photographs. The landscape out there is beyond belief ...the views are incredible! After that we hit up Halloween Town Store in Burbank and got to meet Wayne Toth, the special effects artist from Rob Zombie’s Halloween and much more. And then we drove out to the cemetery used in the original HALLOWEEN, which was very cool. Then it was back to the hotel to get ready for Halloween night. Nicole painted me up like little Tommy Doyle from Rob’s Halloween and she did a killer job! I went Trick-or-Treating in the real Haddonfield and got to visit the original Myers House on HALLOWEEN NIGHT! ...it doesn’t get much better than that! There were so many people out there taking pictures of the house and guys dressed up as Michael Myers walking around the outside of the house. It was crazy awesome! Then to top everything off, I attended a midnight showing of the original Halloween in 35mm.

I went back to the hotel, slept for 3 hours, and then got back up to start getting ready for the 30 Years of Terror HALLOWEEN Convention. I started setting up the Total Skull booth at 7:30 in the morning, and by the time the convention doors opened, Alicia and I were ready and excited! We sold quite a bit of TS clothing and I got to meet so many awesome Halloween fans at the booth that knew about the Myers House NC and were excited to stop by and chat with me about the house. Everyone was very nice and super supportive. I had such an amazing time - I got to meet PJ Soles, Brian Andrews, Will Sandin, Ellie Cornell, William Forsythe & many more guests at the convention! I also got to see some old friends like Scout, Danielle, Kristina, Sean, Stef, Donnie, and MORE ...so needless to say, I had a very HAPPY HALLOWEEN this year ;)

...but I’m happy to be back home in North Carolina with Emily and my kitty cats, and I can’t wait to see the house this weekend! Since I’ve been gone the crew has put up most of the exterior window molding, they have installed more siding, and our giant gable ornaments have been delivered to the property and might go up this week! So stay tuned for MYERS HOUSE NC updates soon.

Stuck in Salt Lake City

I'm currently stuck at the Salt Lake City international airport for the next 8 hours!!! ...and now I won't get home until 8:40am tomorrow morning! So I bought Internet service and a couple DVDs to keep me entertained for awhile. But anyway, I hope everyone's HALLOWEEN was as incredible as mine was! I'll tell you ghouls all about it and post lots of pics when I finally get home!

Windows and Newspaper Articles

3 MORE DAYS ‘TILL HALLOWEEN, HALLOWEEN, HALLOWEEN. 3 MORE DAYS ’TILL HALLOWEEN – SILVER SHAMROCK!

The Myers House NC now has windows! They were all delivered yesterday to the house and the crew has been working slowly through the cold windy weather installing them. It was important to us to keep the antique look of the original house’s windows, so we decided to go with all wood windows ...and they look great! All of our windows are custom made, double-paned low-E wood windows. Right now the crew has put up all of the tall downstairs windows and the molding on one of front windows. The molding really makes the final look of the windows, and once everything is painted I think it’s going to look perfect! So by the time I get back from California all of the windows should be installed.

Tomorrow The Myers House NC will be featured in 2 newspapers! There will be an article about the house in the News of Orange County Hillsborough, North Carolina newspaper and in the South Pasadena Review Pasadena, California newspaper! So if you live in either one of those cities, please pick up a copy! Also the Pasadena Star News newspaper will be running an article about the house on HALLOWEEN! And don’t worry you outsiders; I’ll be posting a copy of each article on the site when I get them. The old Hillsborough Spookhouse is spreading across the country, so WATCH OUT ;)

...more tomorrow!
